The Museum is pleased to announce our 2008 season hours. There is no charge for admission to the museum’s tour center, which includes the enormously popular exhibit “my Verse is alive,” recounting the posthumous publication of Dickinson’s poetry.

Visits to the Emily Dickinson Museum begin at the Tour Center, located in the Homestead. Information and admission tickets are available inside the Tour Center.
The Tour Center also houses the Museum shop, exhibits, and a restroom.
Admission to the Tour Center is free.
Visiting the Homestead and The Evergreens:Guided House Tours
To explore the Homestead and The Evergreens beyond the Tour Center, you must be accompanied by a guide. Tour tickets are sold in the Tour Center. Tours are offered throughout the day; the first tour begins at 11 a.m.; the last tour begins at 4:30 p.m. (In the summer, the first tour begins at 10 a.m.; the last tour is at 5 p.m.) For the comfort of our visitors and the safety of our collections, tour size is limited. Tickets are sold on a first-come, first-served basis.
Emily Dickinson’s World
Offered daily on the hour; last tour at 4 p.m.
A 90-minute exploration of the world of the Dickinson family, with a special focus on Emily Dickinson’s life and work. This tour includes both the
Homestead and The Evergreens. Admission: Adults $8, Seniors $7, College Students $7, Students age 6-17 $5, under 6 free.
“This was a Poet”
Offered daily on the half-hour; last tour at 4:30 p.m. in spring and fall, at 5 p.m. in summer.
A 40-minute introduction to Emily Dickinson and her poetry. The tour takes place at the Homestead and concludes with a poetry reading. Admission: Adults $6, Seniors $5, College Students $5, Students age 6-17 $3, under 6 free.
“The Props assist the House”
(offered Sundays at 3 p.m. May - October)
The Dickinsons and the Meaning of House and Home. An hour-long examination of the meaning of house and home to the Dickinson family and to nineteenth-century New England society. The tour features the architecture of the Homestead and The Evergreens from outside and inside. Admission: Adults $8, Seniors $7, College Students $7, Students age 6-17 $5, under 6 free.
Exploring the Museum’s Landscape: Audio Tour
Visitors are welcome to explore the Museum grounds on their own during the Museum’s open hours. To enhance your experience, we recommend the Museum’s audio tour, “Grounds of Memory,” which is available to rent in the Tour Center. Visitors who purchase a house tour ticket receive a coupon for a complimentary audio tour (valid for one month).
“Grounds of Memory” A self-guided audio adventure around the Museum’s grounds. Featuring more than 30 of Dickinson’s poems, the tour surveys the Dickinson family’s fascination with landscapes and the natural world. The tour, which takes 45-60 minutes, is narrated by Richard Wilbur and features the voice of Mary Jo Salter as Emily Dickinson. Admission: $6; complimentary with purchase of a guided tour.

Group Tours The Museum is happy to arrange group tours (parties composed of six or more people). Reservations for group tours must be made at least two weeks in advance and are subject to availability.
