|Volunteers at the 2009 Emily Dickinson Poetry Marathon
Volunteers at the Emily Dickinson Museum fulfill a vital role in helping us to preserve and share Emily Dickinson's poetic legacy. They contribute numerous service hours annually, helping our programs to run smoothly, assisting young visitors with crafts and activities, weeding the Dickinson gardens, and putting the essential pieces and finishing touches on special events.
Volunteer opportunities in 2012 include:
- Garden volunteers: The Dickinson family gardens were extensive and rambling. Our wet, cool summer has invited them to ramble too much! Contribute a few hours to weed the Homestead gardens and to re-shape The Evergreens's landscape.
- Program volunteers: Many hands make light work for programs such as the annual Poetry Marathon, the annual nineteenth-century backyard circus, and the Emily Dickinson Birthday celebrations. Give a few hours to prepare craft activities for children new to poetry, to serve as an usher at events, or to prepare for a birthday bash.
- Annual fund volunteers: Help the Emily Dickinson Museum support the costs of its operations by preparing annual fund mailings.
